Almost every day we have a customer come in and ask if we carry Narrows or Wides or some other width that is not Medium. Of course our answer is always YES.

Alpine Slip-Resistant Ankle Boot by SAS®

I would like to introduce you to ALPINE (for women). ALPINE is a cute little ankle boot that has all the features of GUARDIAN and LIBERTY which includes the X-tra Grip slip-resistant sole, the WaterGuard leather, the SAS Tri-pad Comfort System, and the Coolstep Footbed.

While no sole is 100% slip-proof SAS 'X-tra Grip' slip-resistant sole has outperformed industry standards using the Brungraber Mark II testing method for wet and greasy conditions. The soles have a unique hexagon shaped rubber outsole pattern that helps channel floor spills so you can maintain effective contact with the floor. The Sole is also non-marking and safe to wear on light colored floors.

ALPINE is available in sizes 4 - 12 including all half-sizes and in Slim, Narrow, Medium, Wide and Wide-Wide. They are designed to fit and follow the shape of your foot.

As always, it is important to make sure you buy the proper size. When buying work related shoes you should always make sure that the shoes are wide enough to stay comfortable at the ball of the foot and roomy enough in the front so your toes are not cramped. The heel should be snug and should not slip while walking.

Proper care is required to maintain the slip-resistant performance of this shoe. Wipe away dirt and grease with a damp cloth and remove debris in the grooves of the sole to maintain the slip-resistant performance.

Drop by and try on this new style. I think you will be impressed.

November is DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH

November is Diabetes Awareness Month and today is World Diabetes Day.

While everyone should take care of their feet diabetics should watch theirs more carefully. The American Diabetic Association website http://www.diabetes.org/living-with-diabetes/complications/foot-complications/ states: "People with diabetes can develop many different foot problems. Even ordinary problems can get worse and lead to serious complications. Foot problems most often happen when there is nerve damage, also called neuropathy, which results in loss of feeling in your feet. Poor blood flow or changes in the shape of your feet or toes may also cause problems."

Their article goes on to tell of the foot problems diabetics might face and offers helpful information when dealing with things such as Neuropathy, Skin Changes, Calluses and Foot Ulcers. Their article also suggests that you "Ask your health care provider about special therapeutic shoes, rather than forcing deformed feet and toes into regular shoes."

We, at Ensor's Comfort Shoes, work closely with many doctors with patients that have diabetes and related foot problems. SAS® has shoes that work great with the diabetic feet. Some of SAS's top selling styles meet the needs of the diabetic foot.

All of these styles have the features needed to support and protect the diabetic foot. These styles have broad bases, wide toe boxes, soft linings and the added depth needed for toe room and/or special inserts.

If you're in or near Nashville, TN come and see us. Tell us what problems you are having and we will recommend the style or styles best for you. Please remember that it is important to be properly fitted in the correct style and size.

Walk a Mile in our SAS® Shoes

Betty Ensor Thomas ..... It occurred to me that I haven't spent that much time blogging about SAS's TOP SELLING WALKING SHOES. Honesty, I don't know what I've been thinking.

Since we opened our doors in November 1993 FREETIME (for Women) and TIME OUT (for Men) have continued to be our top selling styles. Designed for serious walkers, these styles have everything a walking shoe should have. And, although designed for walkers these shoes are that and so much more. I recommend them for anyone that works on hard surfaces or does a lot of walking on their jobs. I also recommend them to people with foot pain and that's why so many doctors also recommend these styles for their patients. These styles have the added depth needed for Orthodics and Braces.

I could write technical information here, but will just write what I tell my customers about them as I show them using my cut-in-half sample of the shoe.

1. They have a broad base for solid support underneath your feet.

2. They have a wide and deep toe box so your toes have plenty of room to spread out like nature intended.

3. They have a wide wraparound heel counter for stability.

4. There is extra cushioning underneath the ball of the foot and the heel (the main pressure points).

5. There is an extra layer of cushioning in the midsole.

6. The sole is a polyurethane material that has millions of air bubbles in it.

7. The soft cushioned removable insole literally molds to the feet.

8. That's four (4) layers of cushioning and shock absorption underneath your feet which is not only good for your feet but the rest of your body too.

9. These styles are lightweight and well ventilated to keep your feet cool and dry.

10. They are also available in a wide range of sizes and widths AND color choices (Black being the Number One color in both).

11. These styles are recommended by Podiatrists, Orthopedic Doctors, The American Diabetic Association, AND Medicare Approved.

Although designed for walkers these shoes are that and so much more. I recommend them for anyone that works on hard surfaces or does a lot of walking on their jobs. I also recommend them to people with foot pain and that's why so many doctors also recommend these styles for their patients. These styles have the added depth needed for Orthodics and Braces.

FREETIME (for Women) is available in White, Black, Bone, Mocha, Navy, Red and Teak smooth leathers, Charcoal Nubuck. It is available in Slims, Narrows, Mediums Wide, Wide-Wide and Black is also available in WWW. Sizes range from 4 to 12 including all half sizes.
(Navy and Red are available in limited sizes only)
FREETIME in BONE
TIMEOUT (for Men) is available in Black, Bone and Walnut. It is available in Slims, Narrows, Mediums, Wide, Wide-Wide and Black is also available in WWW. Sizes for Men range from 6 to 15 including all half sizes.
TIMEOUT in BLACK

So, whether you walk for health, you walk or stand on your job, OR are just looking for the most comfortable shoe on the market you need to try these shoes on. Chances are while you're trying them on another customer will tell you how great they are. Our customers that wear these styles purchase them over and over and over. I'm even wearing Freetime Charcoal as I write this blog.
