Some people do not even realize that SAS makes shoes for MEN.  I have to admit that as far as my blog is concerned I have not posted as much about SAS's Mens Line as I have the Womens, and I must apologize for that.  SO, let me start 2013 with what SAS has to offer gentlemen.

ACE has been one of our most popular slip-on dressier shoes.  It is very lightweight and super comfortable.  Ace is available in Black only in Narrow, Medium and Wide widths.

AMBASSADOR is SAS's newest shoe for Men.  You can read all about Ambassador on my blog.  Ambassador is available in Black and Brown in Narrow, Medium and Wide widths.

BOUT TIME is a style that we have had for a while, but is one of our top selling shoes period.  Lightweight with a broad base and roomy toe box - what's  not to love.  Bout Time is available in Black, Cordovan and Mulch (Brown) in Slim, Narrow, Medium, Wide and Wide-Wide widths.

BRAVO is SAS's Men's version of Relaxed (one of SAS's top selling sandals for ladies.  Bravo is extremely lightweight, has a broad base and superior arch support.  It comes with three adjustable straps for fit and comfort.  Bravo is available in Brown in Narrow, Medium and Wide widths.

New Years Resolution Number 2: Buy SAS® ACTIVE COMFORT SHOES Journey and Tour.

On October 16th, 2010 we excitedly announced SAS's new line of ACTIVE COMFORT Footwear for both Men and Women. After two years these styles are still flying off the shelves. Why you ask? It's because these shoes are (1) Stylish and (2) oh so very comfortable.

These ACTIVE COMFORT shoes have been engineered to have the same comfort features as SAS's top selling walking shoes and are available in Slim, Narrow, Medium, Wide and Extra Wide to ensure proper fit. (Limited sizes and widths in Journey Grey as of this date).

Each box includes a Product Sheet that shows what SAS has put into these shoes make them exceptional. Let's start at the bottom and work our way up.

The outsole is a flexible, durable rubber compound that is designed to provide maximum grip and comfort. The outsole is non-marking.

The shoes have SAS Steady Trac Midsoles which are shock absorbing, lightweight with forepart stabilizer that provides lateral stability. The Arcfit heel stabilizer gives a firm yet gentle support to encourage proper heel strike on all types of surfaces.

The same as SAS's walking shoes their ACTIVE COMFORT shoes have the green odor resistant Tri-pad cushions that cushion the pressure points of the feet. These lie under the Ball of the foot and heel.

SAS's new CoolStep Footbed is the best footbed to date in my opinion. This one is designed to keep your feet dry and comfortable all day long. It has an anti-friction cover that helps prevent heat buildup. The bottom layer helps wick away moisture while cushioning every step you take. It is also antibacterial and washable which will help keep your feet healthier.

Now that we have covered the four layers of cushioning and shock absorption let's move on to the uppers.

The uppers are made of Durable, Soft, Supple, Breathable Leather with plenty of ventilation to help keep your feet cool and dry. The shoes are designed with the natural shape of the foot to provide all day comfort. They have a wide wraparound heel counter to help maintain stability and SAS's exclusive EZ Lace system.

As always, it is important to make sure you buy the proper size. When buying athletic shoes you should always make sure that the shoes are wide enough to stay comfortable at the ball of the foot and roomy enough in the front so your toes are not cramped. The heel should be snug and should not slip while walking.

New Years Resolution Number 1: Buy SAS® WALKING SHOES, Freetime, Me Too, Time Out, and VTO

On November 7, 2012 I published a Blog titled "Walk A Mile In Our Shoes." There I wrote about all of the unbelievable benefits to wearing SAS’s TOP SELLING WALKING SHOES. A lot of this blog will be a repeat of the previous blog with a little extra added in this time.

We just celebrated the beginning of our 20^th year in business, and since we opened our doors in November 1993 FREETIME (for Women) and TIME OUT (for Men) have continued to be our top selling styles. ME TOO (Velcro Version for Women) and VTO (Velcro Version for Men) are exactly the same as the lace up versions only with Velcro closures).

Designed for serious walkers, these styles have everything a walking shoe should have. And, although designed for walkers these shoes are that and so much more. I recommend them for anyone that works on hard surfaces or does a lot of walking on their jobs. I also recommend them to people with foot pain and that's why so many doctors also recommend these styles for their patients. These styles have the added depth needed for Orthodics and Braces.



I could write technical information here, but will just write what I tell my customers about them as I show them using my cut-in-half sample of the shoe.

1. They have a broad base for solid support underneath your feet.

2. They have a wide and deep toe box so your toes have plenty of room to spread out like nature intended. Many people feel that the shoe is too big because of all the toe room but your toes should have enough room to turn flips, play the piano or anything else you can think of in there, AND trust me after about 30 minutes you will realize the joy of having all that toe room.

3. They have a wide wraparound heel counter for stability. This is what keeps your ankles straight and helps you keep balance.

4. There is extra cushioning underneath the ball of the foot and the heel (the main pressure points).

5. There is an extra layer of cushioning in the midsole. We love that extra layer.

6. The sole is a polyurethane material that has millions of air bubbles in it. (Supportive yet bouncy at the same time).

7. The soft cushioned removable insole with added arch literally molds to the feet. Removable to accomodate othotics or any special inserts. This insole can and should be washed from time to time. Cleaning instructions are included in every shoe box. You can also buy replacement insoles at SAS Stores. By doing so you will help to extend the life of your shoes.

8. That's four (4) layers of cushioning and shock absorption underneath your feet which is not only good for your feet but the rest of your body too. Try a pair of these on and just feel the support and cushioning underneath your feet.

9. These styles are lightweight and well ventilated to keep your feet cool and dry. Even the tongue of the shoe is ventilated.

10. They are also available in a wide range of sizes and widths AND color choices (Black being the Number One color in both).

11. These styles are recommended by Podiatrists, Orthopedic Doctors, The American Diabetic Association, AND me (because I actually wear them).

SO ... let’s talk about BEAUTIFUL SHOES - BEAUTIFUL SAS® SHOES. In a recent mailer we highlighted two of the prettiest styles in Ladies Shoes - METRO (a Slip-on Loafer) and MARIA (a Mary Jane).

About this same time in 2010 we introduced our customers to Sanibel which was SAS’s newest thong sandal. This year we are excited to Introduce NAPLES- SAS’s Newest Slide Style Sandal. If you like Slip-on Sandals but don’t like the toe strap then NAPLES is for you.

Betty Ensor Thomas ..... For years Men have been asking for it AND now we are pleased to say that SAS® has come out with a Men's Dress/Casual Shoe with a plain toe and a separate heel instead of a wedge.  Today I am introducing you to AMBASSADOR.

In the developing process SAS® targeted a more contemporary attitude but still applied many of it’s common features and added even more.

AMBASSADOR in BROWN

The best premium leather is used for the upper and the softest leather is used for the lining. These leathers have been kept loose over the vamp area which will help eliminate many of the creases at the flex point at the top of the foot.

The leather lining is padded in both the heel quarter area and under the tongue.  A new and interesting feature is that a built in cushioned arch is in the lining itself.  This feature compliments the contoured, supportive arch that is molded into the removable foot bed.

AMBASSADOR comes with SAS’s Odor Resistant Tripad Cushions that cushion the ball of the foot and the heel.

It has a NEW SAS Contoured Comfort Footbed called the Ever Bounce.  It is removable for those that use orthotics.  It is molded of soft polyurethane to fit and support the contours of the foot.  It has an enhanced arch and metatarsal and comes with a molded heel cup.  Soft leather covers it for enhanced comfort.

It also has a NEW SAS All-Day Comfort Supersoft Lightweight Sole.  The sole is a one piece molded welt polyurethane sole that is lightweight and flexible.  This cushioned sole provides for soft cushioned comfort with every step you take.

Another NEW is SAS’s Foot-Shaped Last with a more moderate toe design.  This last follows the natural shape of the foot and provides comfort and plenty of room for the toes.
